Das Naturhistorische Museum Wien ist atemberaubend. Atemberaubend weitläufig und atemberaubend schön. Man kann an einem Tag in diesem gigantischen Museum unmöglich alles sehen. Ich brauche dringend eine Dauerkarte.Nach den ersten fünf Räumen war ich vor Begeisterung bereits so geschafft, dass ich Kaffee und Kuchen einfüllen musste. Im Café Nautilus unter der Kuppel des Museums kann man unter einem ausgestopften Raubtier im staubigen Licht sitzen und auf Maria Theresia und den Zwilling des naturhistorischen, das kunsthistorische Museum, blicken. Ich kann mir ehrlich keinen schöneren Ort für ein dickes Stück Sahnetorte vorstellen.
Was mich so schwächte, war die phantastische Vielfalt an Farben und Formen. Muscheln, Käfer, Fische, Falter, Edelsteine in Variationen, die niemand erdenken kann, ließen meine Knie ganz zittrig werden. Treffend die Worte des letzten Gastes im Gästebuch: "Unbelievable! Unforgettable!"
The Museum of Natural History of Vienna is breathtaking. Its vastness and its beauty leave you dizzy. One cannot possibly see the whole thing in one day. I really need a seasonal ticket.
After the first five rooms, I was so exhausted that I desperately needed a cup of coffee and a piece of cake. At the museum's café, Café Nautilus, you can sit under a taxidermised cat of prey in the dusty light and watch the giant statue of Maria Theresa of Austria and the twin of the Museum of Natural History, the Museum of Fine Arts. I can't imagine a greater place for a nice piece of cream gateau.
What made my knees weak was the fantastic variety of colors and shapes. Shells, beetles, fish, butterflies and gems in variations the most creative mind could never come up with. The last words in the guestbook were just appropriate: "Unbelievable! Unforgettable!"
